Berryessa Teachers head to Washington, DC for NEA
5 CTABerryessa members are headed to Washington, DC this week to attend the NEA Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly. With over 9,000 educators participating, NEA bills this as the world's largest deliberative body.
Representing us as State delegates are Joyce Singh, Manny Lopez and Joe Hermann. The local delegates are Beth Hanson and Rob Curry.

Board Extends Contract of Supt. Liebmann 4-1
It was a foregone conclusion.
Despite pleas by several of our CTAB Executive Board members at the June 26th BUSD Board of Trustees special meeting, the board went ahead and extended the contract of Marc Liebman through June 2011.
The vote was Rudy Nasol, Francine Davis, Linda Chen and David Cohen in favor and Alkesh Desai voted against the extension.
CTAB Departing President Joyce Singh let the board know that they only listen to Marc Liebman and serve him when they should be serving the needs of the teachers, students and community.
CTAB Vice-President elect Rob Curry reminded the Board mebers that they will be held accountable for their actions.
Immediately after the vote, CTAB members left the board room and there was frustration in the air and plans to look for candidates for the upcoming November School Board election in which 2 seats are up for election.

URGENT: BUSD Board to Vote on Superintendent Extension through 2011
We need to mobilize members to attend and to speak up at the Board of Trustees meeting at 6:30PM on Thursday June 26th. This special meeting will include agend item on extending Dr. Liebman's contract as Superintendent through 2011 (currently it goes through 2010).
